Just the other day, Google announced a new YouTube for Android app that packed some great new features. 24 hours later, YouTube 2.0 for iOS was released and it brings with it the same feature list. This new version of YouTube for iOS looks and feels very much like the Google+ app and should prove very popular with users.
Along with a new icon, Google has brought multitasking to YouTube. This means that you can now minimize what you are watching to a little window at the bottom of the screen and search for other things at the same time. This is a feature that has been on the wishlist for many users for quite some time so it is great to see that it is finally a reality.
This app also features extended support for enhanced Tvs and Google's own Chromecast dongle is also included with this latest update. This makes it easier than ever to get your YouTube videos off your iPhone and onto the big screen. Whilst you could do this with AirPlay before, this improvement is still very welcome.
Another great feature that has been included is the ability to search for and then watch playlists with a play all button that allows back to back viewing of all the videos in the playlist. Google has also announced that they are working on improving their HTML 5 Web app which is the way most people watch their YouTube content.
The updated YouTube app for iOS is now available in the app store so be sure to download it and let us know what you think.
