In this blog post, we want to tell you how to legitimately download iOS 7 beta 4 and installl it on your iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. This latest beta release of iOS 7 was made available last week after the recent security breach of Apple's iOS Development Center. This meant that this update was a week later than was expected.
There are a few ways that you can download iOS 7 beta 4 on your iPhone or other idevice so we will go through each one quickly and a few changes that iOS 7 beta 4 has brought with it. If you are a registered developer and you have beta 3 or any previous iOS 7 beta build installed on your device, performing an OTA update is very easy. All you have to do is go to the Settings app on your device and then select General and go to the Software Update section. The beta 4 update should be there waiting for your approval to install it.
If you are new to the iOS development scene and you are running a version of iOS on your device that is prior to iOS 7 beta, you might want to register yourself as a developer and register your device with Apple for deploying pre-release software. Then all you have to do is download and install iOS 7 beta 4 on your device. If you are already registered with Apple as a developer then all you have to do is download the .dmg file that is tailored to your iOS device and install it using iTunes on your PC or Mac.
As you are aware, iOS 7 is not available for older idevices so be sure that you check compatibility before downloading anything. Since the release of iOS 7, specifically beta 2, every beta that has followed has brought nothing more than minor cosmetic changes and under the hood performance enhancements and bug fixes. Beta 4 is no different and does not bring many changes except for minor UI tweaks and a significant performance boost.
Our experience with iOS 7 beta 4 on the iPhone 5 has been very positive and iOS 7 is definitely showing some great signs of improvement. We can't wait for the official release of iOS 7 in the fall.
