The final build of iOS 6.1.3 has been released. This features bug fixes and improvements over the prior release. For those of you who are more interested in jailbreaking we have some good and some bad news. Apple has patched Evasi0n the untethered jailbreak tool as we expected which means that those of you with A5 devices won't be able to jailbreak your phone and you will lose your untethered jailbreak if you update to the latest firmware.
On the plus side, if you have an A4 powered device, there is a solution and you can still jailbreak iOS 6.1.3 using Redsn0w. Now we must point out, that this is a tethered jailbreak solution and there is no untethered jailbreak available as yet. We have tested the latest version of Redsn0w and a tethered jailbreak can be applied to all pre-A5 devices which are those that are vulnerable to the Limera1n exploit. This includes the iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS and iPod Touch 4th generation. Newer devices such as the iPhone 5, iPhone 4S, iPad and iPod touch 5th generation cannot be jailbroken.
If your current firmware is iOS 6.1.2 and you have an untethered jailbreak, do not update to iOS 6.1.3 or you will lose your jailbreak. The Redsn0w iOS 6.1.3 jailbreak is for A4 devices only and it is a tethered jailbreak solution. This means that you will have to plug your device into your computer if you wish to reboot your device.
If you want to use Redsn0w to jailbreak iOS 6.1.3 then the first thing you need to do is download the original iOS 6.0. Then download and start Redsn0w 0.9.15b3. Click on the visible Extras button and choose Select IPSW. Point Redsn0w to the unmodified iOS 6.0 IPSW and then from Redsn0w's main screen all you have to do is click on Jailbreak and follow the on screen instructions. When prompted, choose to install Cydia. When instructed, enter DFU mode using the Redsn0w wizard. Redsn0w will not start working in the background and within minutes you will have an iOS 6.1.3 jailbreak.
