The new iPhone 5 has been unveiled and in the space of 24 hours has been pre-ordered 2 million times. Apple released a press release stating that their latest smartphone has been pre-ordered a staggering 2 million times and that this is twice as much as the iPhone 4S when it was launched last October.
The iPhone 5 has been considered a disappointing upgrade compared to the iPhone 4S by analysts worldwide and this is based on its similar design. If the official numbers are anything to go by though, the taller 4 inch retina display of the new iPhone 5 was more than enough to encourage over 2 million people to pre-order this device.
It is worth pointing out that these official numbers only represent devices that have been pre-ordered via the Apple online store or via different mobile carries on contract. The numbers will get interesting when Apple reveals the number of device that have been purchased directly from stores around the world also.
The new iPhone 5 is powered by the new A6 processor and this makes it the most powerful mobile device around in terms of performance. It is even more powerful than the Galaxy S III, the Nexus 7 and the iPad 3.
The iPhone 5 is set to hit the shops on the 21st of September and all pre-orders will begin shipping on this date too. We are getting really excited about this and cant wait to get our hands on this new Apple device. Stay tuned as we will be bringing you more information as soon as it arrives.
