This news comes directly from Apple in a press release statement that was released. It stated that a whopping 4 million units of the iPhone 4S were sold in the first weekend. According to Apple this is a record breaking number and no other phone has sold this much in such a short time. This is more than double what the iPhone 4 sold last year. Heres what Apple had to say:
From Apple:
Apple today announced it has sold over four million of its new iPhone 4S, just three days after its launch on October 14. In addition, more than 25 million customers are already using iOS 5, the worlds most advanced mobile operating system, in the first five days of its release, and more than 20 million customers have signed up for iCloud, a breakthrough set of free cloud services that automatically and wirelessly store your content in iCloud and push it to all your devices.
The iPhone 4S was announced at Apples Lets Talk iPhone event on October 4th to what appeared to be a mixed response to us, according to an informal poll we held on Facebook in which majority readers voted that they would be waiting for the iPhone 5.
As it turns out, demand for the iPhone 4S is way, way higher than what any informal poll could suggest or predict: the general public is going crazy for the iPhone 4S! Over a million units of the phone were pre-ordered in its first 24 hours alone with Apple calling it their most successful iPhone launch ever.
The iPhone 4S can be ordered right now, but since demand is so very high, dont expect it to arrive at your doorstep before a week or two. There are three models of the iPhone 4S available based on internal storage: 16GB ($199), 32GB ($299) and 64GB ($399). There are two colors available: black and white. It is available on three carriers in the US: AT&T, Verizon and Sprint on a two-year contract. Alternatively, you can get one factory-unlocked and contract free for $649, $749 and $849 for the 16GB, 32GB and 64GB model respectively.
